As a young and aspiring professional in the hotel and hospitality industry, I started my professional education with a Diploma in Hotel Management, Aviation, and Travel & Tourism. My academic capabilities broadened my path to join the hospitality industry and eventually build up an experience of 13 years in the industry. My journey has been diverse, with my capabilities sharpened at the F & B Cost Controls department, then Finance Department, Operations Department, Reservations Department, to Revenue Management Field.
My professional journey between such diverse fields of expertise not only served up many learning opportunities over the years and also helped me develop my expertise in analytics and problem-solving approach.
During my time at the Taj Udaipur, I developed a unique method of cost controlling that helps in saving money at the right places for the hotels. Apart from developing the cost controlling model, I also developed other optimized practices when working closely with the departments like F & B Operations, Front Office, Reservations, Credit & Accounts. During my time with the Taj, I delved deeper into the sectors of revenue management, Budget planning and inventory management, all of which are crucial branches of hotel management.
I joined Neesa Group with the goal of using my experience at Taj Udaipur for a different purpose in a different setting. At the Neesa Group, I implemented the central reservation and revenue management system to increase the organization’s operational efficiency. Working at the Neesa Group was an opportunity to work for a large scale hotel with experience in managing over 25 hotels in India.
Working in a highly competitive hospitality market of Goa, I handled the Alila Hotel and Resorts, where I implemented a new model of Revenue Management for maximizing the efficiency and revenue-generating capabilities of my assignment. My hotel and hospitality management skills sharpened with my time at the Lalit Bangalore. My stint at the Kupu Kupu & Meliá Hotels International broadened my experience to managing a hotel chain that has an impressive international presence and penetrated into newer, more prosperous markets like Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar.
My years of experience and insights gathered in the hotel and hospitality industry have inspired me to write a blog over the last few years that revolves around the themes of Revenue management, forecast, budget planning and other minute aspects of hospitality management.
Currently, I am associated with Rev Matrix solutions and SYSOTEL, an organization that offers digital and smart operation management software that cover the different aspects of hotel management. With the digitization of hotel management operations, SYSOTEL aims at bringing in a revolution in the hotel and hospitality industry, one that drives the growth of the Indian hotel and hospitality industry. I also believe that every setback is an opportunity if seen in the right light. A true resourceful professional turns around adversity into an opportunity. This belief has led me to start India’s first and only dedicated quarantine hotel booking platform so that a mutually beneficial channel is established between the hotels and their customers even in the dire times of the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic.
